Digitize, edit, customize, convert, and print embroidery designs. You can do all these things and more with Embird, a Windows application that developer Balard describes as "an affordable must-have tool for all embroiderers." So if you’re into embroidery and you’re looking for a tool to help you out, then you’re well advised to go give Embird a try.

Embird provides support for 32- as well as 64-bit versions of Microsoft’s Windows operating system. There’s an Embird installer for 32-bit systems and a different installer for 64-bit systems. No matter which one you get, you can easily install Embird and use it for free for a trial period of 30 days.

On first run, an Iconizer Settings prompt will show up and ask you to select the files types you’d like to open with Embird and select the file types for which you would like Iconizer to generate icons when you see them in Windows Explorer. If you don’t know what to choose, hit the big Typical Settings button from the right hand side.

If you’re curious to see how Embird’s interface looks like, then I suggest you go and take a look at the screenshots and at the Quick Look video that accompanies this article. Or better yet, go get Embird, install it on your Windows PC, and get a first-hand look at this embroidery tool for computerized machine embroidery and quilting.

The Embird demo is fully functional and you can use it for free, for evaluation purposes, for a trial period of 30 days. When the trial expires, you’ll have to get a license to keep using Embird. At the time of writing this, the license is priced at $164. That’s for the basic program, mind you. If you want some plug-in modules, you’ll have to pay extra. The Studio digitizing plug-in for example is $150.

Embird will help you create, edit, convert, print and do more with embroidery designs. Go get it and see if it really is "a must-have tool for all embroiderers."

Pros

Embird is compatible with Windows 10 and older Windows editions; it is available as a 32- and as a 64-bit installer. The interface isn’t hard to figure out. Alongside the basic Embird program there are plenty of optional extras. You can use this tool to efficiently work with embroidery designs.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial.
